Adolescent well visits are a touchstone of youth-centered care, but too often these important moments of connection with patients are overlooked or missed altogether. It is essential that providers create safe and supportive environments during these and other visits, including being sensitive to the many ways in which youth may have been impacted by trauma.
Our Timely Topic module guides providers through the elements of a quality well visit, determines clinic strengths and priorities for well visit improvement, and evaluates the impact of improvement strategies on well visit rates.
By the end of this Spark, participants will be able to consider the traumatic aspects of patient care interactions, outline the basic principles of trauma-informed care, and review strategies to make outpatient clinics more trauma-informed.
