U-M Health is committed to uphold environmental sustainability, social equity & diversity principles, advancing health & justice for individuals, communities and the world.

Michigan Medicine’s mission to advance health extends beyond individual patient care to include the broader community. We are committed to improving health outside of the medical room by creating clean environments to live in; reducing barriers to accessing health services; improving safe, affordable, and stable housing; and reducing the prevalence of mental illness and substance use. Our initiatives in the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) focus areas reflect this commitment.
U-M Health earned recognition from Practice Greenhealth as a sustainable health care organization for the 20th straight year. The three honors – Greenhealth Emerald Award, Circles of Excellence Awards in Greening in the OR and Energy – are the most the organization has received.
