Administrative Fellowship Application

Michigan Medicine is committed to developing a diverse and collaborative organization. A selection committee representing leaders from across Michigan Medicine review applications. A select number of applicants will be called for telephone interviews. Upon completion of telephone interviews, the most qualified candidates will be scheduled for onsite interviews. The final selection will be made shortly after onsite interviews are completed. Up to three individuals will be annually selected as fellows for the Michigan Medicine Administrative Fellowship Program.

Administrative Fellowship Requirements

Michigan Medicine welcomes diverse and highly motivated applicants from a variety of graduate programs. Qualified fellowship applicants will have a master degree or equivalent course work in health care administration, nursing, business, public health, health service or a related degree from an accredited program. While candidates with previous professional work experience are encouraged to apply, previous work experience is not a prerequisite for the fellowship.

Applications for the 2027 - 2029 Michigan Medicine Administrative Fellowship program will be accepted beginning June 1, 2026. Applications are due by 11:59pm EST on September 7, 2026.

Application Timeline

For candidates invited to move forward in the application process, there will be two rounds of interviews:

  1. The first round will consist of 30-minute phone interviews held on September 14 & 15, 2026. Phone interviews will be held from 8am-4pm EST.
  2. The second/final round will consist of onsite interviews in Ann Arbor on either September 22 or September 23, 2026. Candidates will also be invited to dinner the night before their scheduled onsite interview date.

Given the tight turnaround between application submission, phone interviews, and onsite interviews, we encourage candidates to be mindful of keeping the above dates and times blocked on their schedules, so they are available if invited to proceed further.

To be considered for the Michigan Medicine Administrative Fellowship, please compile the required application materials into a single PDF and submit the PDF through the Michigan Medicine Administrative Fellowship Application Submission form by the deadline above.

  1. Statement of Career Goals and Objectives (maximum of 1 page)
  2. Resume (maximum of 2 pages)
  3. Unofficial or Official Graduate School Transcript
  4. 3 Letters of Recommendation (at least 1 professional & 1 academic)
    • Letters may be combined into single PDF for submission. If recommenders would prefer to submit their letters directly, letters must be emailed as a PDF to [email protected]

Fellows are awarded a salary that is competitive with those of leading administrative fellowship programs. Additionally, they receive a comprehensive benefits package, which includes a generous vacation program, Child Care and Health Care Reimbursement Accounts, as well as disability and life insurance.

Application Process

Applicants are evaluated on their academic achievement, professional and academic experiences, statement of career goals and objective, and letters of recommendation. Applicants are also evaluated on the specific interest in the Michigan Medicine Administrative Fellowship, initiative, professionalism, and leadership potential. This is determined through the online application materials, phone interview and on-site interviews.

A Master’s degree or equivalent course work in healthcare administration, nursing, business, public health, health service or a related degree from an accredited program.

While candidates with previous professional work experience are encouraged to apply, previous work experience is not a prerequisite for the fellowship.

Applications are typically accepted annually June - September.

Michigan Medicine has an online application process. 

No, at this time we do not sponsor international students for our administration fellowship program.  

We welcome applicants with diverse experiences, including those with work experience as well as recent graduates.

We accept unofficial graduate transcripts, as part of the PDF application packet candidates submit.

Applicants may submit their Letters of Recommendation as part of their PDF application packet. Should recommenders prefer to submit Letters of Recommendation directly to the program, they may be emailed to [email protected] by the application deadline.

Applicants are encouraged to provide a letter that reflects relevant work experience. Recommendations based on internship, volunteer, or non-healthcare related work experience would be accepted.

The fellowship applications are read by a committee of leaders from across the health system. We have a diverse group, including our Senior Leadership Team, mentors, directors, department administrators, managers, and past fellows. Members of the Michigan Medicine Administrative Fellowship Senior Leadership Team make the final decision.

We accept applications from graduates of accredited programs in health care administration, nursing, business, public health or other related programs.
