About

Julie Ishak, DNP, RN, NP-BC, CENP, is the Chief Nurse and Operations Executive for Michigan Medicine’s academic medical center. Ishak has served as chief nursing executive for the health system since March 2024. Her current role recognizes her expertise in operations and creates a single point of leadership, responsibility and decision making for the academic medical center’s clinical operations.

Ishak had previously been chief nursing officer for ambulatory care at U-M Health and associate chief nursing officer for the U-M Medical Group. Prior to that, she served as the Vice President, Neuroscience Center of Excellence and Director of Nursing – Critical Care System Renal Services and Women Health & Respiratory Care at Ascension.   

She is a board-certified adult nurse practitioner, certified in executive nursing practice through the American Organization of Nurse Leaders, and a graduate of the Inforum Women’s Executive Leadership Academy. 

Ishak earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Detroit Mercy and a Master of Science in Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Wayne State University.
