Preventive Risk Outreach And Cascade Testing (PROACT)
Transforming Inherited Cancer Risk into Lifesaving Action
Your gift is a driving force in cancer prevention.
PROACT is a digital platform — launched by philanthropy in 2024 — that helps people with inherited cancer risk take informed action to protect themselves.
Thanks to donor generosity, PROACT helps families share crucial health information and access affordable home genetic testing so they can make effective choices, like lifestyle changes and earlier screenings, to protect themselves from cancer.
With your support, we will save lives as PROACT helps more people learn about and act on their risk status.
Donors Fuel Lifesaving Advances
Gifts of all sizes move cancer prevention forward.
We need your support to develop this cutting-edge platform to reach more families and meet more needs.
Your generosity supports:
- Expansion of PROACT into new clinical spaces
- Testing to ensure PROACT is as useful and relevant as possible
- Platform updates to meet evolving family needs
PROACT helps the patient understand the issues and feel more comfortable with the information themselves so they can share with their family members…it’s a deeper, richer explanation of the situation, along with decision support around genetic testing and information on accessible, affordable home testing options so they can learn their personal cancer risk if they choose to.
We want to reduce the burden of cancer in these families, and we will achieve that goal…we are going to save lives, and we are so excited about this.
About PROACT
PROACT is a partnership between the University of Michigan and Stanford University.
In 2024, U-M and Stanford were awarded legacy funding by Bright Pink as it delivered its largest and final investment in cancer prevention. This gift built the foundation of PROACT.
Awareness is not enough, and we shouldn’t wait until someone is diagnosed to take action. When Bright Pink launched PROACT in 2024, we knew we were investing in something transformative.
-Lindsay Avner Kaplan (A.B. 2005), Bright Pink founder
Now, we need your support to bring this innovative platform to families with inherited cancer risk so they can take informed action to protect their health.
