T'onna Clemons
About This Event

T'onna Clemons is an Ann Arbor-based painter/ muralist and graphic designer. She has been traveling around the world for the past several years, gaining experience in mediums such as oil, gauche, acrylic, watercolor and welding. After 20 years of painting, her style focuses on conveying and capturing the emotions of the African American experience in America. She has recently extended her subject matter to include wildlife and wilderness portraits. She is currently focusing on the styles of stencils and comic books, using texture and sharp images to tell stories, garner conversations and incite emotions. She studied Fine Arts at Eastern Michigan University and The Art Institute of San Francisco. She also studied Art History at Arizona State University.

T'onna was inspired by Afrofuturism and Cyberbunk when she began this series of paintings. She uses black children and plants in space to inform her audience about the importance of representation and horticulture.
