Bob Allen

Bob Allen is an editor and writer whose more than 30-year career began at daily newspapers in Michigan and Virginia. He later moved to Crain’s Detroit Business, where he spent more than two decades as an editor, column writer, page designer, website general manager, trainer and all-around jack of all trades.

He also created “Business Casual,” a column that appeared in Crain’s daily email newsletter from 2003 to 2006. An audio spinoff of the column was featured on WCSX-FM in 2004 and 2005.

Allen’s honors include national awards for headline and column writing from the Alliance of Area Business Publishers and headline writing and print design from the Detroit chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

He lives in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, with his wife and two sons.
