An oasis for patients and families, the Butterfly Garden in the courtyard outside C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital encourages education, healing, distraction, and discovery during hospital visits.
Hospital stays can be lonely and stressful, but our Butterfly Garden is designed to help patients and families feel less isolated and give them a supportive emotional experience. Populated by host and nectar plants native to Michigan, the garden gives visitors a chance to observe butterflies while enjoying a peaceful and relaxing space.
Donors can dedicate a butterfly-shaped plaque that will seemingly float among the dazzling flowers and real butterflies in the garden.
