Michigan Medicine announced tonight that a second inpatient at the University of Michigan Health System is positive for COVID-19 and in critical condition.
This patient is in appropriate isolation and staff are using appropriate personal protective equipment.
Risk of infection is low for our staff and visitors, even if you work in University Hospital or near the unit where the patient is isolated. Risk is considered high if you have prolonged exposure to a someone with symptoms without appropriate protective equipment.
