The Downward Trend of Hysterectomy

Fewer women across the U.S. are getting hysterectomies. Instead, they're opting for less-invasive procedures, such as laparoscopy, to mitigate uterine fibroids, pelvic pain, and more. Daniel Morgan, M.D. (Residency 2002, Fellowship 2005), professor of urology and of obstetrics and gynecology, and a team of researchers analyzed insurance claims submitted between 2010 and 2013 and discovered that, beyond saving patients' time, this trend saved millions of dollars in associated health care costs.
