Donations and Love Pour in to Fight the Pandemic

On a cold day in March, a masked and gowned volunteer — Kristin Johnson, a U-M alumna and local dentist — collects donations for the COVID-19 effort at the North Campus Research Complex. When Michigan Medicine asked the community for help, they responded with overwhelming generosity, donating tens of thousands of masks, face shields, shoe covers, gowns, gloves, boxes of hand sanitizer, food for front-line staff, and lots of love. Messages of support and gratitude poured in from all over, including thank-you notes from students at Spencer Elementary School in Brighton, third graders at A2 STEAM Elementary School in Ann Arbor, and many others.
